Best of Luck Ben!

June 17, 2021

MassCOSH would like to wish the best of luck to Ben Weilerstein, who, after an amazing and productive two years with MassCOSH, is soon leaving in order to be closer to family in Pittsburgh.

Ben did a fantastic job filling our Labor Coordinator position after veteran employee Tolle Graham, who worked for MassCOSH for over 30 years, retired. Ben wowed coworkers and MassCOSH members with his passion for workers’ rights, his strong grasp of technology, and his fluent Spanish language capabilities. During his time with us, Ben oversaw the creation of two Dying for Work in Massachusetts reports in under one year and led many of our efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, among many other notable achievements.

“I used to mostly think that wages and hours were the only big worker issues,” says Ben, reflecting back on his time with MassCOSH. “Working on health and safety has shown me that the real purpose of the labor movement is for people to have control of their own lives, including our lives at work. At MassCOSH, I saw the fear and anger that dangerous working conditions provoke, and I learned how to help workers move from those feelings to a place of knowledge, power, and action. United, workers can beat the power of the boss and win the jobs and the world that we need and deserve. Talk to your coworkers and organize!”
