Teens Lead at Work
Our Strategy
Teens Lead @ Work (TL@W) provides training and advocacy for teen workers to ensure their safety and health in the workplace by:
- Supporting young workers' efforts to research and identify issues of concern to them in the workplace and in their community.
- Creating polished, confident peer educators that are incredibly effective in reaching out and teaching other teens.
- Engaging teens in organizing strategies to address their concerns and foster young worker and environmental justice activists.
- Bringing youth together with their peers to discuss their concerns and to learn about work issues.

"Pure Injustice: Behind the Scenes of Working Teens" (CLICK HERE to view film in its entirety)
This past summer, Teens Lead at Work peer leaders worked on a film titled "Pure Injustice: Behind the Scenes of Working Teens." The premise of the video is focused on young worker injuries and fatalities (and how that impacts those closest to the young worker), and the effects that the Child Labor Law Reforms in Massachusetts have had on young worker injuries and on employer responsibility. The Peer Leaders would like to thank everyone involved in the film for all their help and support and making this film possible!

Child Labor Law Task Force
Comprised of youth, parents, labor representatives, community groups, young worker safety experts, and government agencies, the Child Labor Law Task Force meets quarterly with the Attorney General. It aims to raise public awareness of the Child Labor Laws among teens, parents, and employers and create strategies to help the Attorney General in the enforcement of the reformed laws. The task force's goal is to ensure that the Child Labor Laws protect young workers while giving them the opportunity to have learning and productive work experiences. Visit the Attorney General's website for more information...
Peer-to-Peer Program
One of the biggest assets the Teens Lead at Work program has, is the number of other youth organizations that offer different resources in Eastern Massachusetts. TL@W is actively outreaching to other youth organizations to develop relationships to promote collaboration, share resources, and raise awareness among youth about worker safety issues.
Health and Safety Workshops
Teens Lead at Work peer leaders offer two hour interactive health and safety training sessions for teens in the Greater Boston area. For more information or to schedule a workshop, please contact TL@W Coordinator: Nancy Luc (617-825-7233 x13).
